Spring is in the Air
Last month the groundhog in Punxsutawney, Pa. forecast six more weeks of winter, but evidently the good folks at the Saint Louis Art Museum did not get the memo, because this weekend they’re kicking off their annual Art in Bloom festival. One of the museum’s most popular events, Art in Bloom celebrates the return of spring and its most glorious representation, the flower. Stroll the galleries and take in gorgeous floral displays inspired by works in the museum’s collection. Not content to dazzle you merely in the visual sense, organizers have put together a variety of events this weekend, from gallery talks to flower arranging demonstrations to special dining opportunities. Tonight it’s Flowers After Hours, where you can peruse the exhibition, then stay for a performance by the Willie Akins Quartet. If you can stand just a bit more fabulosity, a cash bar will also be available. What: Saint Louis Art Museum’s annual Art in Bloom Festival When: Fri., March 7 through Sun., March 9 Where: Saint Louis Art Museum, 1 Fine Arts Drive, Forest Park, St. Louis Cost: Admission to the exhibition is free; charges for events vary Info: 314.721.0072 or www.slam.org Editor's note: The price listed for Venus Envy in yesterday's Entertainment Daily Sauce was the cost for VIP tickets.
