In the Nik of Time
A kaleidoscope of color is set to pop up at the Missouri Botanical Garden this weekend in the form of Niki de Saint Phalle’s mosaic and painted sculptures. We’re promised 40 of the artist’s whimsical pieces, ranging from animals to dancing women. (Climbing is even encouraged on some.) However, we’re especially eager to check out Niki’s take on Michael Jordan (complete with the number 23 on his chest) and local son Miles Davis. Scheduled to run through the end of October, the exhibit includes weekly Niki Nights, events that feature tunes, alfresco dining and kid-friendly activities such as snow-cone eating and face painting. Since a first look at the exhibit will likely whet your appetite for more info on this French-born artist, sign up now for June’s informative Mosaic Magic Walk. What: Niki When: Sun., April 27 to Fri., Oct. 31 – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Niki Nights: Thursday evenings from 5 to 9 p.m.; Mosaic Magic Walk: Mon., June 2 – 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. (Advance registration is required.)
