Twang Time
When calendars flip to June, music-lovers convene in The Lou and flip their attention to twang. Twang Fest that is, which pays homage to Americana music in the most rollicking of ways. Even though backpacks and notebooks can be left at home, you’ll receive a musical education over the next four days as ears are treated to 13 acts, including the beloved Old 97's and Waco Brothers’ “mix of hellfire country and mournful punk.” (You might remember when the latter headlined the original Twangfest.) Each night will rattle and roll at a different venue, kicking off at The Schlafly Tap Room tomorrow, where guitar-master Chuck Prophet is set to thrill fans with his signature sound. What: Twangfest When: Wed., June 4 to Sat., June 7 – doors open nightly at 7 p.m. Where: Wed.: The Schalfly Tap Room, 2100 Locust St., St. Louis; Thu.: The Duck Room at Blueberry Hill, 6504 Delmar Blvd., University City; Fri.: The Pageant, 6161 Delmar Blvd., St. Louis; Sat.: Off Broadway, 3511 Lemp Ave., St. Louis Cost: $20 per night Info: www.twangfest.com |
