What, Me Worry?

We love MAD Magazine. In fact, the MAD Magazine card game we played insatiably while growing up has been with us in four states and through six moves. It doesn’t matter that we might be getting older, we’re certainly not more mature, and the irreverent Alfred E. Neuman (endearing gap-toothed grin and all) is still as cool as ever.

That’s why, if you’re anything like us, you’ll be making your way to the St. Louis Artists’ Guild, where MAD Magazine in all its influential and satirical glory is taking center stage. Who knew that the same mag you once read on the sly in history class would become gallery-worthy?

It’s all thanks to curator and cartoonist Bob Shay, who’s brought together original MAD artwork and a variety of related printed media to illustrate the effect MAD has had on the larger culture over time. You’ll also catch sight of a few of Shay’s own pieces, which show the effect MAD Magazine has had on one particular artist, as well.
