Super Flies
Tonight it’s all about fireworks, and when it comes to lighting up the night sky, we say the bigger the better. That is, until next Wednesday, when the focus shifts from fireworks to fireflies – tiny illuminators that are just as captivating. The event, called Project: Firefly, is a group art project that merges nature with nostalgia. It’s simple, really: Outfitted with the necessary supplies, participants will catch fireflies on the Missouri riverbank before returning to the Foundry Art Centre to incorporate their glowing jars into a “bioluminescent art installation.” Although the dynamic project will be captured permanently on film, the fireflies will be released later that same night. Even if art isn’t normally your bag, this is one project that doesn’t require fancy brushes or know-how. Plus, you get to play with bugs. And that’s just cool. What: Project: Firefly When: Wed., July 9 – 6 p.m. (Reservations are recommended but not required.) Where: Foundry Art Centre, 520 N. Main Center, St. Charles Cost: Free Info: 636.255.0270 or www.foundryartcentre.org |
