Something to Sing About

Do-re-mi-fa-so-la-ti-doooooe!

That’s us warming up for our next concert. Don’t we sound good? OK. Maybe not so much. But we blame that on the fact that most local choruses take a summer break, leaving voices rusty. Now, don’t fret. It you need a vocal warm-up as much as we do (not to mention a night out with your musical pals), then wail over to Illinois on Monday, where the Belleville Philharmonic Chorale presents Summer Sing.

This musical event welcomes all ages and abilities (and even people who haven’t sung in a choir-setting since their school days) to join forces for one night, during which they’ll rehearse, enjoy a refreshment-filled intermission, and then perform Rutter’s Requiem. Who knows, you may even come back for an encore the following week when Messiah Part II and III is on tap.

What: Summer Sing presented by the Belleville Philharmonic Chorale
When: Mon., July 14 (Rutter’s Requiem) and July 21 (Messiah Part II and III) – Registration from 7 to 7:30 p.m., with a start time of 7:45 p.m.
Where: Philharmonic Hall, 116 N. Jackson St., Belleville
Cost: $5 per night
Info: 618.234.8079
