Chill Factor

With gas prices soaring, you’re saving pennies by turning the thermostat up. But here’s the problem: Summer’s less than a month old, and you’re already sick of, well – summer. Not to mention all those alternative cooling methods, from popsicles to wandering aimlessly through frosty department stores.

What’s an overheated person to do?

We suggest signing up for next month’s ice grass sledding at Sioux Passage Park, the creative cool-down that requires nothing but a carpet square or towel to cover your block of ice. And by the time you’ve made it down the hill for a final time, autumn temperatures will be right around the corner.

What: Ice Grass Sledding
When: Aug. 23 – 1 to 3 p.m. (Spots for this event fill quickly; registration is now available.)
Where: Sioux Passage Park, 17930 Old Jamestown Road, Florissant
Cost: $8
Info: 314.355.7374 or online here
