Hungry for art? Hungry for adventure? Then get ready to fill ’er up. This weekend, the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis hosts its Third Annual City-Wide Open Studios, which arms one and all with maps and a mission: to explore the spots where local artists work their magic. Of course, after two days of delightful tromping through studios in St. Louis, Maplewood and University City, we expect you’ll be plenty hungry again, so plan on heading back to the museum when things wind down to chew the fat with participating artists at the Starving Artists BBQ. For those ready to sink their teeth into things right away, the Contemporary’s hosting a preview party tonight – the one-stop way to check out work from all those who so generously agreed to pull back their creative curtains. What: Third Annual City-Wide Open Studios and Starving Artists BBQ When: The preview: Tue., July 15 – 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. (The exhibit will remain open throughout the week.); Open studios: Sat. and Sun., July 19 and 20 – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Starving artists BBQ: Sun., July 20 – 4 to 8 p.m. Where: The preview: Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, 3750 Washington Blvd., St. Louis; Open studios: Maps are available online; Barbecue: In the Contemporary’s courtyard, which is shared with the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts Cost: The preview and studio visits are free.
