This summer, how ’bout giving your travel plans a twist by, well, eliminating the travel?

It’s called a “staycation,” and it means that instead of driving cross-country for an eyeful, “travelers” immerse themselves in the wealth of diversions right here at home. If you’re not sure where to start, head to the science center, art museum, history museum, zoo or botanical garden to register for a chance to win a family staycation package. The prize includes free admissions to special exhibits at the participating venues and a complimentary hotel stay at the Drury Inn & Suites in Forest Park. And, hey, even if you don’t win, maybe you’ll still be inspired to cancel your traditional getaway for a self-designed stay-and-play.

So pack your bags and load up the car! Then toss that map out the window and appropriate your gas fund for souvenirs.

What: Staycation Package
When: To register, visit any of the participating attractions on or before Wed., July 30. Two winners will be drawn on Thu., July 31. The Staycation must be redeemed between Aug. 1 and Aug. 29.
