A Divalicious Cabaret

Dionne Warwick. Aretha Franklin. Tina Turner.

These dulcet divas have spurred much shower singing, impromptu dancing and record buying throughout the years. And they most recently inspired St. Louis diva Anita Rosamond to put her own unique spin on their classic tunes, along with hits from other unforgettable female crooners of the ’60s and ’70s. The album, Keep Liftin’ Me Higher – Live!, was recorded  last spring at Harrah’s VooDoo Lounge, but you can be one of the first to pick up the finished product at this Saturday’s CD release party, which is presented as part of the Black Cat Cabaret.

And speaking of the cabaret, come back for performances by other local talent, including  the rootsy sounds of Rough Shop on Aug. 2 and Peanuts Whalum’s tribute to Gaslight Square on Aug. 9.
