Reel Late
Whether you like your blockbusters action-packed (The Dark Knight), high-heeled (Sex and the City) or animated (Wall-E), we’d say it’s been a good summer. But for those of us who like their flicks retro and ’round midnight, it’s getting even better. Thanks to The Tivoli, nocturnal movie-goers can flock to University City to catch films of yesteryear that still pack an emotional punch. Scary: The T-Rex attacking in Jurassic Park. Triumphant: Judd Nelson, fist thrust in the air, in The Breakfast Club. Haunting: Ridley Scott’s depiction of the future in Blade Runner: The Final Cut. And the big-screen emotions continue as summer turns to fall, from Alfred Hitchcock’s chilling Rear Window to Tim Curry and Susan Sarandon’s hilarity in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. What: Reel Late at the Tivoli – This weekend features Jurassic Park When: Fridays and Saturdays – midnight Where: Tivoli Theatre, 6350 Delmar Blvd., University City Cost: $6.50 (except for Rocky Horror in October, which is $10.)
