The Early Bird Gets the Books

Looking for some romance? If you’ve got a quarter, then make a date between the covers at the 30th Annual YMCA Book Fair.

Or maybe it’s mysteries you dig. Or Westerns. Or one of the countless other page-turners that will be on sale during the six-day shopping extravaganza. Last year boasted more than a million donated items, meaning you could very well start an impressive library of your own with the change under your couch.

To celebrate the big 3-0, the novel event said goodbye to its former digs at the Carondelet YMCA and hello to air conditioning and ample parking at the Kennedy Recreation Center. Even though things don’t technically kick off until Friday afternoon, last year early birds were camped out before the sun rose to secure their spots for First Selection Night.
