A Green Scene
If you’re familiar with River Styx’s reading series, then you already know that pairing poetry with a party is old hat for this lit mag. But the local journal is upping the ante tomorrow night for the first Green Feast: Go Green, Give Green event. Recycled art, along with other creative works, will be on display and then later auctioned off to the highest bidder, food is courtesy of Revival and The Samson Mengsteab Trio will keep the jazz flowing. And pick up a copy of River Styx’s new food-centric issue, A Readable Feast, while you’re there. Big names, including Lee Upton, Albert Goldbarth and Charles Harper Webb are featured in its pages, along with local favorites such as Catherine Rankovic and Jane Ellen Ibur. Be sure to also check out Andy Mozina's Doritos-driven story, Quality Snacks, and J.D. Chapman's Sugar, the tale of an unsuspecting diabetic. What: River Styx’s Green Feast: Go Green, Give Green When: Sat., Aug. 23 – 8 to 11 p.m. Where: William A. Kerr Foundation’s LEED Platinum Certified building, 21 O’Fallon St., St. Louis Cost: $20 includes food and drinks. Info: www.riverstyx.org |
