Wanna do some shopping on The Magnificent Mile? Indulge in a little K.C. barbecue? Visit pals at Mizzou or Illinois State University? For less than the cost of a MetroLink ticket, you can catch a comfy ride to Chicago, Kansas City, Columbia or Normal. It’s made possible by Megabus.com, an express bus service that had us questioning our recent decision to drive to (and pay for parking in) the Windy City when we encountered the blue double-decker on the highway. The service boasts one-way fares as low as $1 plus a 50-cent reservation fee. And although we soon learned that only a few precious seats are available for that low rate, the earlier you book, the cheaper your ticket – with even a last-minute weekend excursion to Chi-town coming in under 60 bucks round trip.
