Toy Meets World
A missing eye. A face gone green. Clothes in disrepair. What is one to do with toys that have seen better days? The Eugene Field House and St. Louis Toy Museum has put them behind glass to showcase how everything from light to mold can take its toll on a child’s plaything. The exhibit also illustrates “the fine line between cute and creepy” by including dolls one definitely wouldn’t want to cuddle up to at night. Of course, the museum’s staff members are pros at restoring most toys. And if you’re looking to engage in a Toy Story moment of your own, spend some time in the special interactive area, where visitors are invited to put on a pair of white gloves and learn the techniques used by professionals to keep antiques looking their best.
