Put on a Happy Race
If you’ve got running shoes, a bicycle and some friends or family members with competitive energy to burn, then grab a compass and sign up for the St. Louis Adventure Challenge. It’s put together by a group of local parks and recreation departments and is billed as a mini version of The Amazing Race. Although the feats you’ll face are being kept tightly under wraps, a mental challenge encountered at the Springfield Urban Challenge (which ours is modeled after) was the blindfolding of one team member, who had to successfully maneuver a remote-controlled car by listening to verbal cues from his/her partners in crime. As far as the physical challenges – well, that’s where the running shoes and bike will come in handy. What: St. Louis Adventure Challenge When: Sat., Oct. 4 – 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (The registration deadline is Sept. 21.) Where: Queeny Park, Manchester Cost: $75 to $120 per team (Family and co-ed adult teams can consist of three or four members.) Info: 314.835.6150 or online |
