A Square Meal

Normally, we wouldn't encourage messing with O'Fallon Cherry Chocolate Ale. But to serve it alongside brioche bread pudding with chocolate, cherries, crème anglaise and coffee bean ice cream? Yeah, we're OK with that.

The pairing is the idea of Anthony Devoti, chef and owner of the new Newstead Tower gastropub in The Grove, who will present an enticing mix of his food and O'Fallon beer at a $40, five-course dinner on Wednesday.

The evening kicks off with cheese, sausage and O'Fallon Gold. Other highlights include O'Fallon Smoked Porter paired with braised locally raised beef with couscous, raisins and black currants. Need we remind you what's for dessert? Nah, figure we'll just see you there.

Sauce pick: O'Fallon Beer Dinner, Wed., Jan. 16 – 7 p.m.
Where to get it: Newstead Tower Public House, 4353 Manchester Ave., St. Louis
