Be a Little Teapot

Teapots have come a long way since your grandmother’s china cabinet. And since January is National Hot Tea Month, we’re in the market for some trendy new tea vessels.

At The Oatman House Tea Room’s shop in Collinsville, you’ll find fun “theme” teapots featuring characters like Tweety Bird and a bride and groom, along with a sweet selection of vintage and antique-style teapots. The Saint Louis Tea Room in the Tower Grove neighborhood stocks both antique replicas and modern models – like the Simax clear glass teapot that features a built-in, removable plastic infuser. To use it, simply fill the infuser with loose tea, insert it into the pot and watch it brew. When your tea is ready, remove the infuser and fill your cup. (Most major retailers also carry versions of a clear glass, infuser-style teapot.)

Of course, for a truly modern take on this ancient custom, check out the Zephyr Stainless Steel Teakettle, which looks like a stove-top space ship. Hmmm, tea that takes you to the moon? Maybe we’ll have another cuppa while we think that one over.
