Cajun Cook-Off

Mardi Gras time already? Sweeeet! This Saturday, if you’re 21 or older, call out your friends, grab a krewe and second line it down to the Casa Loma Ballroom, where you can leave the cooking to the Crystal Cajun Cook-Off contestants while you sample good Cajun eats. It’s always a party atmosphere at the cook-off, with lots of beer, soda, Hurricanes and food, not to mention great live music. As you sip and munch, you can watch 10 professional and 10 amateur chefs duke it out behind their respective stoves for the title of best Cajun/Creole dish. You’ll also get a recipe booklet featuring last year’s entries, just in case you want to practice for the 2009 cook-off. If you’re hanging around the Soulard area and get the urge to cheer on a contestant, simply hop on one of the vans shuttling folks from the neighborhood to the Casa Loma. No muss, no fuss. Laissez les bons temps rouler!
