Yummy Yogurt

It’s been about a month since you promised your bathroom scale – and skinny jeans – that you would eat better and exercise more in 2008. We can’t help you with the second half of that resolution, but we’ve got an appliance for the first – your very own fresh yogurt maker. Most major and independent cookware stores carry at least one version of this ultrahealthy, very affordable appliance, whether the chic and cheap Total Chef Yogurt Maker to the popular, mid-priced Euro Cuisine Yogurt Maker. Even the most expensive model, the Cuisipro Donvier Electronic Yogurt Maker, can be had for under $45. Granted, store-bought yogurt isn’t a high-priced item, but the do-it-yourself option gives you total control over your ingredients – and allows you to experiment with fresh flavors you might not find in your local dairy aisle.

Sauce pick: Home yogurt makers
Cost: Varies by model
