Black Walnut Pizza Please, Thin Crust
Who says New York and Chicago should grab all the glory when it comes to pizza? We know all you amateur recipe contestants love a challenge. But it’s going to take more than tweaking grandma’s cookie recipe to win the big kielbasa in Bolla Wines’ Taste of Your Town Pizza Battle. Between now and Aug. 31, you can submit a pizza recipe that reflects Missouri (and they don’t mean a state-shaped crust) and suggest a Bolla varietal to accompany your creation. Your recipe must incorporate locally produced ingredients or Show-Me state signature foods. Like what, you ask? Did you know the black walnut is our state nut? Or that Missouri produced 690,000 pounds of honey in 2006 (we even had a seven-day Honey War with Iowa because the sticky stuff was so valuable)? Or that more Missouri farmland is devoted to soybean production than any other crop? Regional winners receive a pizza oven and other Bolla prizes. The Grand Prize winner gets bragging rights for his or her region and a trip to Europe to visit Bolla’s winery in Verona, Italy, and attend the 2009 World Pizza Championships. We smell a dessert pizza baking! Sauce pick: Taste of Your Town Pizza Battle Price: Free to enter Info: Visit www.bolla.com/taste for more info on how to enter. |
