Culinary Art

Art brings people together. Food brings people together. It only makes sense, then, that food and art would bring even more people together, right? The Foundry Art Centre hopes so. Which why the interdisciplinary arts center in the historic Frenchtown district of downtown St. Charles now offers its Grand Lunch, a gourmet buffet held every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The big lunch, catered by Travenas by Design, features a weekly rotating cuisine with freshly prepared dishes from around the world. With food cooked to order, the buffet offers unique salads, imported and domestic cheeses, European breads, fresh deli selections, homemade soups, and freshly baked mini-desserts.

“Our food style is highlighted by a profusion of high-quality, locally grown products and only the freshest, seasonal ingredients combined with creative preparation techniques,” said William Drake, executive chef and co-owner of Travenas By Design. As you indulge in culinary art, you can browse the visual arts; nationally juried art exhibits are on display in the Foundry Art Centre galleries. There are also 21 working artist studios where you can watch the creative process and buy works of art directly from the artists. Now that’s food for thought.
