Maplewood Never Tasted So Good
This year the little burg of Maplewood turns 100 years old. More important to foodies, however, is that tomorrow marks the 21st Annual Taste of Maplewood. Twenty-one years ago, when Maplewood was sleepier, you would have probably worn your acid-washed jeans and huge hiking boots to the first Taste. Since then, the downtown Maplewood restaurant scene has changed as dramatically as fashion trends – thankfully. Moseying poolside, you’ll savor the culinary delights of the area’s hottest, trendiest eateries such as Monarch, Maya Café, Acero, Boogaloo, El Scorcho, Jive and Wail, LaChef Catering, and Schlafly Bottleworks, to name a few. With wine from Saint Louis Cellars, beer from Schlafly and specialty non-alcoholic drinks from CooperElla Café, there’s a beverage for everyone. Sauce pick: Taste of Maplewood Where to get it: Thu., May 22 – 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Maplewood Municipal Pool, 7550 Lohmeyer Ave. Price: $20 in advance, $25 at the door (includes all food and drinks) Tickets available at Citizens National Bank, National City Bank and the Chamber of Commerce.
