Zingy Zins
Time was, about 30 years ago, when Zinfandel was big, bold, brash and certainly not blush. Today’s Zins are lighter, and – as they say – more fruit-forward, but every bit as peppery and zingy as the old boys. It’s just the nature of this California grape with the mysterious lineage. Tonight at Monarch Restaurant, as part of its popular Wine Down Wednesday, executive chef Brian Hale and general manager Chad George pair a three-course cooking demo with Zinfandels from such diverse areas as Paso Robles, Dry Creek Valley and Napa Valley. They call it Forgive Me For I Have Zinned. We call it pure virtue. Sauce pick: Wine Down Wednesday Where to get it: Tonight – 6:30 p.m., Monarch Restaurant, 7401 Manchester Road, Maplewood Price: $40 per person Info: 314.644.3995 or www.monarchrestaurant.com |
