Dessert Worth Barking About
Been to the new Surf Dogs restaurant out there in Chesterfield Valley? If not, we can’t blame you; it just opened May 16. But, wow, does the menu look tasty: All dogs are 100 percent Vienna Beef (we’d expect nothing less), steamed and served on poppy-seed buns. There’s the classic Chicago-style dog, of course, as well as a variety of themed hot dogs, burgers, sandwiches and beer. But what really got our attention was when owner Brian Wieher (too bad the “h” in his name isn’t an “n”) told us about the Key lime dessert he ships here from his native Key West, Fla. It’s a piece of frozen Key lime pie on a stick and hand-dipped in chocolate. That’s pie dipped in chocolate for crying out loud! If you’ve been to Key West – or Surf Dogs – you know that dark chocolate is the perfect partner for the little lime’s tartness. And now you can get it right here in River City. Sauce pick: The Key Lime Bar Where to get it: Surf Dogs, 137 Chesterfield Towne Centre, Chesterfield Info: Call 636.537.8799 or visit www.mysurfdogs.com. |
