Getting OFF the Levee
We St. Louisians are of hardy stock, and we’d never let a flooding river stand in the way of a good party. When life gives you lemons, make lemonade, right? And when Live on the Levee – St. Louis’ annual riverfront food and music shingig taking place on five Saturdays in July and August – can’t take place on the levee, just move it and change the name to Live OFF the Levee. Despite the flooding on the riverfront, this year’s event won’t miss a beat at Soldier’s Memorial ... and either will The Sauce Café. This year Sauce and Wachovia Securities teamed up with five local restaurants to offer you the best seat in the house each Saturday as you dine alfresco while listening to great national acts. This Saturday it’s the southern-soul-food twist from Skybox Sports Bar and Grill – from the team of Nelly, Marshal Faulk, Larry Hughes and Darius Miles – that will complement the neo-soul sound of Anthony Hamilton. Other participating restaurants are: Highway 61 Roadhouse & Kitchen, Portabella, Mike Shannon’s and LoRusso’s Cucina. And, yes, there will be fireworks this year ... just not as close. Sauce pick: The Sauce Café Live OFF the Levee Price: $30 person, not including beverage, tax, and gratuity. Walk-ins accepted on a first-come, first-served basis if seating is available. Reservations are strongly recommended. Where to get it: Soldier's Memorial, downtown Info: For reservations, visit http://celebratestlouis.org/site/index.php?option and click on the restaurant. |
