Nesting

Some people like to change the world from within the system, working the hallowed halls of government. Others like to jump in and get their hands dirty, moving to remote villages to teach and heal. We prefer to change the world by shopping.

Thankfully, Rebecca Kousky understands people like us. The 24-year-old St. Louisan founded Nest, a non-profit organization that provides loans to impoverished women in developing countries by providing shopaholics like us with a Web site full of fun, funky and fashionable goods from hip, emerging designers. Profits from the sale of the line's fashions, handbags and home accessories are used to fund the loans, which are given to help women around the globe create craft-based businesses.

With Nest on our favorites list, our budget might never be the same. That's OK, we're willing to do whatever it takes to change the world.
