The Buggy Outdoors

You get your bug aversion from your father. And like him, you define camping as a night at the Best Western. Still, you’ll be going on your neighbor’s float trip soon. The inability to say no runs in your family too.

Lest the great outdoors swallow you whole, we suggest you pick up some reliable bug spray. Cheryl’s Herbs produces one locally that’s made with catnip – and it may likely be stronger than DEET, which is the chemical base of most commercial insect repellents. No one knows exactly why catnip catches cats’ fancies, but it does. It also makes flies shoo – along with mosquitoes, tics, no-see-’ems and all those exotic crawlers with countless legs. Oops, sorry – didn’t mean to scare you. Just apply this catnip spray liberally and then be brave like dad.
