If you’re like us, you couldn’t tell a bevel gear from a rack and pinion gear, much less a lichen from a jejunum. Well, there’s help out there for all of us. Merriam-Webster now has an online visual dictionary with oodles and oodles of images arranged in 15 different categories. Each of these also has several subcategories, making it easy to click around and take a peek at things. Those gears pop up in Science/Physics: Mechanics. You can look at lichen in Plants & Gardening/Plants or check out a jejunum in Human Being/Anatomy. It’s a big, big world, and now we can get to know it better one picture at a time.
