November 24th, 2009 edition of The Daily Sauce: Entertainment. Visit Our Entertainment Archive. Dino-mite! Will the conversation get heated over Thanksgiving dinner? Probably – especially if the topic of dinosaurs comes up: specifically how it was feathers and not the scaly skin we usually imagine that likely covered earth’s early inhabitants. This is big news, and we’re not sure Grandpa will buy it – not to mention little Johnny. So to prepare for the backlash, arm yourself with facts at Dinosaurs Unearthed, the newest exhibit at the Saint Louis Science Center. It’s a visually stunning display and in addition to feasting your eyes on some feathered fossils, you’ll be blown over by the life-size skeletons and animatronic figures – some of which guests can control. The Science Center bills it as the biggest dinosaur exhibit that St. Louis has ever hosted, which is pretty cool ... but if you want to keep temperatures cool around the table, maybe stick to less controversial topics. You know, like religion and politics. After all, it’s a day for family frolicking, not downy debates. What: Dinosaurs Unearthed When: Daily (except on Thanksgiving, Christmas) through March 28 – Ticket times available every half hour between 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., except on Sundays when the exhibit opens at noon Where: Saint Louis Science Center, 5050 Oakland Ave., St. Louis Cost: $12.50 for adults, $10.50 for children and seniors Info: 314.289.4400 or slsc.org |
