December 8th, 2009 edition of The Daily Sauce: Entertainment. Visit Our Entertainment Archive. Senior Songs If you can’t quite imagine your parents or grandparents belting out hits made famous by Prince, Coldplay or Sonic Youth, perhaps you’ve underestimated them. Or perhaps you’ve yet to be acquainted with the Young @ Heart chorus, which only auditions vocalists 73 and older. The award-winning documentary about this group of amateur entertainers – which will be screened tomorrow afternoon at the Missouri History Museum – puts the feisty chorus members in the spotlight as they battle both challenging notes and challenging medical conditions while preparing for a big show. You’ll be uplifted as they rock out and inspired when their hard work pays off. Can’t wait for the music to start? Then come early for some live tunes courtesy of The Hot Flashes, a group of five local women who also don’t let age get in the way of their passion. What: Community Cinema presents Young @ Heart When: Wed., Dec. 9 – The Hot Flashes: noon; the movie: 1:30 p.m. Where: Missouri History Museum, Lindell and DeBaliviere, St. Louis Cost: Free Info: 314.746.4599 and mohistory.org |
