We're big fans of the nutritional value of hemp. Yes, marijuana and hemp are both of the genus Cannabis, but that's where the family resemblance ends. Hemp doesn't contain the psychoactive compound that makes it illegal, but hemp does have a whole heap of essential fatty acids and antioxidants.

The Grateful Inn, a local hemp mecca, is a big purveyor of all things hemp. In addition to menu items such as the popular hemp-encrusted ahi tuna, the Grateful Inn sells hemp oil, hemp coffee (coffee ground with hemp seeds for a more herbaceous flavor) and hemp seeds among others. Even more exciting for St. Louisans is that Grateful Inn's famous hemp-oil vinaigrette will soon be packaged and distributed to local places such as Whole Foods Market, DiGregorio's Italian Foods and Ladue Market. According to owner Greg Perez, this vinaigrette will be hitting St. Louis' shelves in about a month.

If you're curious to try hemp-infused food in your own kitchen, Canadian-based Manitoba Harvest grows, processes and packages its own organic hemp seed protein powder, oil, nut butter and nuts. Check Manitoba Harvest's Web site for cooking tips and local retailers of the brand.

Put that in your pipe and smoke it.
